COOKING WITH CURATION

CURATION: collecting and sorting content, indexing and cataloguing of evidence, conservation of cultural resources as a curator.
I guess this would be the difference between hoarding and collecting. But using your collection on a daily bases is my idea of the ultimate collector.
This cook uses her kitchen as a museum to keep her inspired while preparing dishes for her guest. This amazing collection shows the high style that was created during the 1950's with it's user friendly homey feeling that is just as much in vogue now then when it was created and designed in the 50's when everyone was returning from war time and wanted to make their homes modern, elegant and streamline. Entertainment was an art form and a visual feast that was meant to inspire the appetite as well as the eyes.
This amazing kitchen is a step back in time that makes you feel the same as when it was designed. When America was full of hope. confident and in love with the domestic happiness of being back from war. The economy was whirling away and anything was possible. New home designs, new lives and new families were expressed in these modern kitchens. These designs were innovated in their style, simple but have proven to be timeless and still evoke the feelings of home. But the most wonderful part of all of this is the everyday using of kitchen collection is shared with your family and friends. Our romantic notion of the past has kept vintage dish wear still collectable and giving the curator the temple (the kitchen) and set the center stage of a home.
